Ingredients:

  • 1 lb fresh broccoli florets
  • 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • 1/2 tsp kosher salt
  • 1/4 tsp freshly cracked black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/4 cup finely grated parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 lemon
  • 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes

Instructions:

  1. Cut the broccoli into uniform, bite-sized florets. Wash the florets thoroughly and dry them completely using a salad spinner or by rolling them in a clean kitchen towel. Moisture is the enemy of crispiness.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, toss the bone-dry broccoli florets with the olive oil, kosher salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Ensure the oil coats every crevice of the florets to facilitate even browning.
  3. Preheat your air fryer to 390°F (200°C).
  4. Place the seasoned broccoli in the air fryer basket in a single layer. Do not crowd the basket; cook in batches if necessary to allow for 360-degree air circulation.
  5. Air fry at 400°F for 8 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through the cooking time to ensure even charring.
  6. Remove the broccoli from the air fryer. Immediately toss with freshly grated parmesan cheese, a squeeze of lemon juice, lemon zest, and red pepper flakes before serving.
