Ingredients:

  • 2 lbs frozen lean beef meatballs (pre-cooked)
  • 1/2 cup bourbon
  • 1/2 cup low-sugar BBQ sauce
  • 1/4 cup dark brown sugar, packed
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1 tbsp cold water

Instructions:

  1. Whisk together the bourbon, low sugar BBQ sauce, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, apple cider vinegar, garlic powder, onion powder, red pepper flakes, and black pepper in a medium bowl. Note: Stir until the brown sugar is mostly dissolved so you don't get sweet clumps.
  2. Place the frozen pre cooked meatballs directly into the slow cooker.
  3. Pour the prepared bourbon glaze over the meatballs.
  4. Stir gently with a spatula until every meatball is evenly coated.
  5. Cover with the lid and cook on HIGH for 3 hours (or LOW for 6 hours).
  6. Dissolve 1 tbsp cornstarch in 1 tbsp cold water in a small cup to create a slurry. Note: According to [Serious Eats](https://www.seriouseats.com), using cold water is critical to prevent cornstarch from clumping instantly.
  7. Stir the slurry into the slow cooker approximately 30 minutes before serving.
  8. Continue cooking on high for the remaining 30 mins until the sauce is glossy and syrupy.
