Ingredients:
- 1 lb Saku Ahi Tuna steaks
- 3 tbsp avocado oil
- 1/4 cup white sesame seeds
- 1/4 cup black sesame seeds
- 1 tsp kosher salt
- 1/2 tsp coarse black pepper
- 3 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp rice vinegar
- 1 tbsp honey
- 1 tsp toasted sesame oil
- 1 tsp freshly grated ginger
- 1 clove minced garlic
Instructions:
- Pat the Ahi tuna steaks completely dry using paper towels to ensure a crispy crust.
- In a shallow dish, combine the white sesame seeds, black sesame seeds, salt, and pepper.
- Press each side of the tuna steaks firmly into the sesame seed mixture until evenly coated on all sides.
- Heat a cast iron skillet over medium-high heat and add avocado oil, heating until the oil is shimmering and just beginning to smoke.
- Carefully place the tuna in the pan and sear for 1 to 2 minutes per side until a deep golden-brown crust forms.
- Remove tuna from pan and let rest for 3-5 minutes before slicing.
- Whisk together soy sauce, rice vinegar, honey, toasted sesame oil, grated ginger, and minced garlic to create the glaze.
- Slice tuna into bias-cut pieces and drizzle with the ginger-soy sauce.
